Ten additional building jobs, mostly for repairs and renovations, have been approved for the Unemployment Board’s building subsidy, bringing the total approvals to date to 343. Ut 453 applications made in Christchurch for the subsidy only twenty-six have been rejected. The value of the work proposed is £313,837, involving a wages cost of £110,726. N.Z. PRODUCE SHIPMENTS. WELLINGTON, August 26. It is understood that arrangements bare been made for the Blue Star motor vessel Tuscan Star, 11,449 tons, to load New Zealand produce in November. She has refrigerated space amounting to 557,548 cubic feet. CHARGE OF BLACKMAIL. Wellington; August 28. Paku Kingi, a Maori labourer, 52, and Claude McEwan, hawker, 29, were charged in the Retone Court to-day, that with intent to extort £5, they ’accused -Alfred Grassi with indecent assault. A remand was grauted till September 4, bail being allowed. Accused arc to report to the police daily.
