Overcome with grief at the death of her husband,' aged 24, a girl, aged at Diamond Harbour, Calcutta, attempted to commit “suttee”. She threw herself on the blazing pyre, clinging to the burning body of her husband. Mourners rescued her senseless, and extensively burned.
