With the shade temperature at 81 the football season opened to-d a y. Forty thousand people witnessed the Ar s enal v. Birmingham match on the London ground. Thirty thousand saw Fulham play Port,vale, amd a similar crowd was present at the Stoke v. Chelsea match.
