CHINESE BANDITS
TWO MONTHS’ SIECE OF TOWN (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copy righ i). PEKING, August 26. Silence has settled on the fate of eight Americans in Guanchow, which has been besieged for two months by bandits, who are pressing the town, the defenders of which are reported to number two thousand, with one year’s supply of rice. The. American authorities are* redoubling their efforts to obtain safe conduct for foreigners. The siege was precipitated by-a bandit chief’s abortive plot to murder a visiting Government General.
