A FATALITY
AT W/yITAHA SAWMILL,
During operations at ~ Messrs Perry and Co’s sawmill at Waitcha ’ on : Satiny 1 day morning about 11- o’clock an 'accident occurred whereby Ernest Hayes*— an employee received- serious injuries from which he died at Westland Hospital yesterday -afternoon. Deceased was caught between-,tivo logs and -hw' head was badly crushed, Bo was t&k&n in ap unconsicoufl etate to the West: land Hospital, but his injuries - were of a fatal nature and death ensued yesterday at 6. pim. Deceased, who was a native of Dunedin, and had pre= viously worked i-n Perry’s mill at Koka, tahi where he had a honey form for : some time. He served for four years at the War -with the 'forces in Egypt. Ho -leaves two sisters, Mesdames Quarrel! i(Eltham) and J. McMeekin; .(Christ.' church), and five brothers,.. Frederick (Gi’eymout-h), Norman. - (Cobden), William a-nd Albert (Waver ley), and Walter (Christchurch). ■ ' ' '
