The president of the Tararua. Tramping Club iseubs a statement on th® financial aspect of the search for the trampers lost recently. The figures relate' to the Wellington cost. The Wairarapa, Levin and Manawatu expenses have been dealt with separately. In those districts the receipts were:Tararua Tramping ’ Club £29 18s lOd, kindred clubs £ll Is, public subscriptions £47 9s 6d, members of the lost party J Miss Williams, Messfg Hill, O’Keefe and Sutch £l3 3s; total £lO2 2s 4d. Expenditure, injured searcher £33 5s 6d, Aero Club grant £5 ss, radio emergency corps grant. £6,115, food, ■fares, transport £57; 10s; total £lO2 8s 4d.

The president says an inquiry was held concerning the search. Numerous reports, including one from the missing party were closely examined, and safety rules and recommendations have been formulated, .and published in the August “Tararua, Tramper.” No attempt ha s been made to criticise the missing party, the object being to obtain information for guidance of future parties.

A scheme for search organisations and i co-operation for future occasions was being dealt with.
