The report of' the special'committee set up by the.;: Victoria College iouneil to inquire into certain charges and insinuations made- , against the teaching staff of th© institution was presented at a meeting of t’he : College council this evening.
In the report, which was adopted by the council, the committee stated that is was satisfied that there had been no evidence adduced in any way reflecting upon the teaching staff of the college, and considered that it deserved the entire confidence of the council, and that, any suggestions to the contrary were unfounded. The inquiry arose out of a controversy iu the Wellington press,, in which certain institutions and persons made statements concerning the conduct of the staff and of the students of the university. ... -
