Allegations that employees of the Wellington Harbour Board Were not receiving the treatment they might, and that in some cases they were subject to victimisation, were made by Mr Chapman, M.D., -at th© Board meeting* The debate arose out of certain proposals by Mr Chapman with regard to bettering the of the staif, the principal one being to establish a board of appeal t 0 consider grievances. None of the suggestions were adopted. . .. ... The chairman, Mr €.-' M. Turrell, said Mr Chapman should not™.make such remarks, because he had been told that if ■ there were any cause for the suggestion of victimisation,, the Board was prepared to investigate, it. Mr T. R. Barrel’ said thafs /every permanent employee, if he had a substantial grievance, had the right appear before the Wharves aind Accounts Committee, to state his views. In the course of twenty years, only two appeals had been made.
