DAMAGE BY FIRE
AUCKLAND ROLLER MILLS CO. (Per Press Association—'Copyright)..... AUCKLAND, Considerable damage wag done by fir© to-night in the Oatmeal Department of the 'Northern Roller Company’s mill; in Fort Street. Fortunately the brigade were able to confine the outbreak to the: top floor, where' it originated, but a large quantity of water penetrated trio floors and an iron roof. The fire was discovered among machinery o n the top floor. When the brigade arrived it had a strong hold. The firemen had a difficult task in the smoke and darkness, but eventually got the fire under, after the T bof had been partially destroyed.
The damage to the milling machinery which was made very largely of ..wood, could not be estimated to-night. The insurances are: On the oatmeal building and contents of the bqilding, £6OOO ; on the machinery, £II,OOO ; b n the merchandise £200.' They, are equally divided between the New Zealand and ■South British Offices. •
