SLEEPING SICKNESS

CHRISTCHURCH, August 22.
A case of sleeping sickness—lethargic encephalitis— is notified in the health figures -for Canterbury v and Westland for the.-past. week. Dr T. Fletcher Telford, Medical Officer . of Health at Christchurch, said that there was no 'cause for alarm. The case affected a middle-aged person, who died last week, A bacteriological examination of the body showed it to be infected with, sleeping -sickness. Such cases axe frequently notified,
