PRAGUE CONFERENCE OPENS.
HIGH ANTI-NAZI FEELING.
PRAGUE, August 22.
The Eighteenth Zionist Congress has opened here. There are 370 delegates, and also four'thousand guests, but Germany and Soviet Russia are not represented. M. Sokoloff is the president.
In his opening speech, M. Sokoloff called on the civilised world to help in building up a Jewish homeland in Palestine. He said: “Anti-Semitism struck a deadly blow at our people. We were faced suddenly with the ruins ot Jewish emancipation in Germany. The Jews are not enemies of Germany. They are admirers of her culture, but our existence is at stake. The time for protesting i s over. Now deeds are \yanted.
M.; Vladimir Jabotinsky. advocated carrying on a merciless fight againstthe Hitler regime. He said: “We must destroy our enemy—not only by the boycott, but by supporting all of the forces that are working against Hitler, in order to isolate Germany from the civilised world.” NAZI BOYCOTT OF JEWS. (Received this day at 10 a.m.) BERLIN, August 22. Though an official boycott of Jewish shops is not permissible, Nazis secretly organised a boycott which is -binding upon all members of the party. Every Nazi has been informed that ft is his duly to patronise only German shopkeepers, who undertake to pay a percentage, of the turnover, under a schedule scheme, which involves the use of a password, and special receipts to party funds.
