BRAVE ATTEMPT

When asked his opinion of the National Industrial Recovery Act, Mr Forbes said: I think Mr Roosevelt’s plan is a brave attempt to rectify the situation. It is all very well to try to cut to pieces a plan like, that, but what would you do under similar circumstances, and what would anybody do? Mr Forbes was given a reception in the City Hull. Square to-day, and gave an Empire message to the people filling the Square. “The Empire must grow into- even closer national and economic unit,” lie said.
He accepted a cenotaph flag from the city to hang in the Memorial Hall, Waitaki High School, Oamaru. He paid a tribute to Mr Bennett, saying: He- has been a great help to myself at the Economic Conferences. At both the Imperial and World Conferences, we looked upon him as our champion. Mr Forbes refused to discuss, here, his conversations with Mr. Stevens.
