'On the. way bo the police station after being arrested for stealing a sum of money he swallowed three • florins and a' shilling. " He appeared before Mr S. L. Paterson-,. ..'S.M:, at the Police Court to-day, •'charged with the theft of £1 7s 3d from a widow.
Constable A. Doel stated that he had caught accused red-handed and on the way to the station he had dropped back amit then suddenly swallowed ■ the coins.
Accused was placed on- probation for two years, this being libs .first offence.
