Nun Pasha has ■ telegraphed to the Iraq Legation at London as follows: “No mass-iere ha s occurred at Iraq, the only fighting was between Government forces and armed Assyrian rebels, whom the bulk of the Assyrians helped the Government to pursue. The loss o*f life was limited to the rebels and to Government forces. No women or children ■ were injured or violated. “There was trivial looting, but the stolen goods were restored or the owners were’ indemnified. There have been a few insignificant fires reported in the deserted villages. Law and order have now been restored. Government guards have been placed in all of the villages for the security of the inhabitants. Major Thomson, Settlement Officer (presides over Relief Committees. The instigators of \ the trouble aimed at a general massacre between various Iraq communities, which the promnt’tude of the Government prevented.”
