INDIAN TROOPS AND, TRIBESMEN

CALCUTTA, August 18.

The Peshawar column of Indian troops encountered a force of hostile tribesmen north of Ivatsai. The latter used machine guns, which were silenced by the column’s artillery. There was heavy firing, but no casualties were suffered by the Indian troops. The casualties of the tribesmen, who retired, are unknown.

Sniping of the planes continues. More bombs have been dropped by the planes. It is reported that the bombing has bad a good effect.
