The Minister of Lands, Air Ransom, visited Oamaru to-day, and met- a deputation of Crown tenants, who asked for a remission of half their arrears of rent, and that the balance owing be spread Over a period. The Minister replied that it was the policy of the- Department to treat each individual case on its merits. No general remission was possible. Asked the Returned Soldiers’ Association for an assurance that no repossesion property under the D.S.S. Act would be offered to any civilian at a lower value than the amount owing without giving tlie mortgagor the chance of taking the property at the value, the Minister replied that where a mortgagor was a trier, he certainly would not bo passed over for a civilian. ;
