THREE MEN FINED
LIQUOR DRUNK IN RESTAURANT
HAMILTON, August 17
All unusual ease was heard before Air IS. L. 'Paterson, 'S.Af., in the Hamilton Police Court to-day, when three young men, Raymond Mason ; Frank Cassiday and John Trotter, pleaded guilty to a charge of drinking liquor an a restaurant at a time when licensed premises are required to be closed. Senior-Sergeant Power said prosecutions of the kind were extremely rare, and it was doubtful if defendants knew they were breaking the law. They were found in the ‘restaurant ■ at- 2 a,m. on ;-July 2, and admitted they had con/sumed liquor there. There was no suggestion of. excessive drinking. The defendants were decent young fellows.
■ The magistrate, in. imposing a fine of 10s 'on. 'each •deiendant, said that anyone else who. c&ihe before the Court could hot expect to be treated with the-tsame- degree of leniency*. «r
