The action is the direct outcome of

the position of the Motu Hotel, which has been of comparatively little service to the travelling public since the opening of the new Waioeko route on the road between Gisborne and Auckland, but which, under the existing licensing laws, cannot be moved. The proposed amendment- was endorsed by various local bodies, land some time -ago the Licensing Committee -carried a .resolution urging an amendment of the ]aw.
