CUSTODY ESCAPE
MAN COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE.

AUCKLAND, August 14. Henry William Charles McKay, aged 29, was to-day committed for sentence on a charge of escaping from a train at Mercer on August 5,-- while being brought to Mt. Eden gaol.;. A warder said that the prisoner’s conduct on the way from Wellington was exemplary, and that he, gave no sign of intention to escape. ,
