CONFERENCE AT WELLINGTON.
DETECTIVES LEAVE MEETING. (Per Press Association — Copyright.) WELLINGTON, August 14. The opening of the meeting held yes-, torday by the Wellington relief workers’ utiion to discuss the'controversy between that organisation and the national union of unemployed, was preceded by a request hv the chairman to two members of the police force seated in the hull to retire. He explained that it, was not a public, but a business meeting, to. reorganise relief . workeVH. The detectives, however, rejnuined seated and the chairman announced the meeting adjourned. There was silence for a .minute or two, when one oi the detectives said: “Very well, Mr Chair man, we will leave you to it.” They departed and the meeting, was declared open.
A resolution was carried, protesting “against the arrest of our comrades, -1 and expressing, determi nation to carry on the struggle lor their release.
