THE HOKITIKA CLUB. /The following games in the fir s t round o,f the ,men’s championships will be played next Saturday;— Senior—Chesney v. McCabe, Pain v. Oox, Steel v. Finerty, Adamson v„ Neville. Intermediate—Tomlinson v. Cooke. Caliari v. Routledge, Warren v. Robilliard, Mandl v. T. Stuart. Junior—Mclntyre v. Kernahan, Bell v. Dougherty, Reese v. Thompson, Childs v. Mclntosh. The full new course 4s to be played. It has been decided, however, for , the time being to suspend for the new 9th| 10th and 11th holes (i.e. th© holes in the recently cleared ground), the. penalty of one stroke for lost ball, and' players will lose distance only. Also,, for these holes competitors may tee up» the second shot only. Attention is also drawn to the amended local rule on the new 16th hoi© (formerly the last hole), whereby a ball lying under Or through the fence must be played from where it lies even if a post be in the line of play. Al ball striking a wir©. cannot bo replayed. If inside the fence (on the out-greem only) the ball may be lifted if the .fence: interferes with the swing of the clubLADIES GOLF CLUB.
L.G.U. players ar© reminded Chat the electric sheet will be definitely closed on Monday, July 31. Play over the new course will begin on Tuesday, August 1 for L.G.U. players. During the week Mrs Ohesney reduced her handicap by two strokes. Unearned Handicap DivisionT’na present .course fo, r the above division will be played on ag usual with the exception of two holes, when th© new second hole, and new eighth hole will be played.
