The Wellington Rugby rep team defeated Wairnrapa* at Athletic Par;; to-day by 43 points to 16. There was an attendance of 6000. The weather was fine, but-a strong southerlywind tended to upset the play of the backs. AYellington, with the wind behind them, led at half time by 30 points to 8, after giving a bright display. AVairarapa tightened the game up in the second spell, which was dull, being relieved by only occasional bursts of bright play. Wellington had better combination than the visiting side, which contain-, ed many young players, inexperienced; in provincial football.
