Police . investigations have virtually reached an impasse. The most likely avenues of inquiry have been exhausted without furnishing a -clue to his assailant, or the motive.. It is hoped that ijf the bullet can be extracted, it- may -provikl©. information regarding tbe type and calibre o.f the weapon used. The X-ray photographs so far taken do not aesist greatly. - .
