SUPREME COURT

CHIEF JUSTICE'S COMMENT.

(Per Press Assoaiation — Copyright.)

PALMERSTON NORTH, July 25,

Tiie quarterly session of the Supremo Court opened, tlic Chief Justice, Sir M. Myers, presiding. Addressing the Grand Jury, his Honour commented that, there were but four indictments. It was interesting to note that the calendar included no cases either for sentence or trial, which had been .lately re erred to by judges throughout New Zealand as being extremely prevalent —breaking and entering. Furthermore there had been no committals for sentence for any like offences since the last circuit. “If that means you are free in this district from offences of that nature, I congratulate you. It may mean,. however, . that a 'certain amount of crime has been detected. That I do not, know.”
