CHARGE AGAINST A HAWKER.

■WELLINGTON, July 24.. Charges of obtaining goods vaioedi at £l5B 19s Id from Reginald G. Kain„ warehouseman, Wellington, by false pretences, and one of stealing £36 6s 7d in. money, the property of Alfred. George Barton, were preferred against. David Rosetal, aliat David Ross, a Polish Jew, aged 22 years, in the Su- V preme Court to-day before Mr Reed L /*' and a jury. The case was unfinished when tlie adjournment was taken, andi will bo continued to-morrow. The Crown Prosecutor, Mr sadd that the Crown’s allegation was that Rosental had set out with a scheme for taking down certain people from whom he had obtained draperygoods his method being to get tho goods on commission, he taking them about the country to auction sales, and then pocketing the money. He was a Polish Jew arriving in New Zealand', in November, 1928, and since 1932 hell ad been hawking drapery goods.
