A deputation representing . the Alliance of Labour and the Trader and La,bou r Council -waited on Mr Coates to-day urging an alteration 'in : the personnel of the Unemployment Board, which it. was .complained, was not making any effort to solve the unemployment problem.',- ‘
It was ‘suggested that the . Board should consist of, gay, four members of Parliament, representatives of the employers arid of the employees, ana also representatives of the unemployed. i
A proposal for the raising of a compulsory loan of fifteen millions sterling for the purposes of- re-absorbing unemployed into industry was also placed before the Minister.
In reply, Mr Uoates said that, so far •ass he was concerned, there would be no alteration in the personnel •of the Unemployment Board, which; he sa : d, was .making an earnest effort' to .deal with the problem. He expresed the view that more was being done for unemployed people in New Zealand - Jn most' icountries. •• ... j . , r
