OPOTIKI, July It.; The death occurred in the Opotiki Hospital early this morning of Mr Olaf Lawford Richardson, aged 53, who received severe injuries to- the thigh when engaged in shooting posts down a wire from a liill in the Waiooka Valley on Tuesday afternoon. At the inquest this afternoon before the coroner, Mr F. J. Short, Dr H. T. Rudd stated in evidence that deceased bed received a compound fracture of the left thigh. An attempt was made last night to amputate the leg, but decerned collapsed when being given an anaesthetic, and died at 3 n.m
