WINNIPEG, July 12,
A wheat export plan based on 'ah international agreemnt with the establishment og national marketing boards in caoh of the principal ex-, porting countries, is favoured by .wheat pools of western provinces. Previously the pools favoured ..acreage reduction schemes.
Announcing, their stand for a, .quota, plan, George Robertson, secretary of the Saskatchewan wheat pool, said it would appear that bushelage rather than acreage basis gives the best hope of success in bringing -about a better relationship, between whe'at production, consumption,, and control over exports by the principal wheat exporting countries through a quota. The plan would tend to relieve pressure on world markets, and prevent one country dumping wheat against others. Under the international plan, the individual grower would be under no restrictions as to the acreage and production, hut the maximum amount' lie could market from any. given crop would he fixed. How .he treated the balance would be entirely in his. own li'ands. He believed that ' legislation would be . enacted A Straight acreage reduction would be exceedingly difficult, !is not impossible, to enforce.
The dollar showed renewed strength to-day, opening at 4671. Gold currencies were firmer, and a better tendency was displayed .in the stock marljet, industrials' showing firmness. British Government stock was ready, War Loan 98 5-16.
