DAMAGES AWARDED

BREACH OF PROMISE CASE. WELLINGTON, July 12. In the Supreme Court, Margaret Dawson, widow, of Wellington, claimed £250 damages from George Dawes, stud groom, of Spring Creek, for breach of promise to marriage. Defendant admitted a verbal agreement to marry, but said that subsequently they mutually agreed to postpone the marriage until he could dispose of his stud horse. Judge MacGregor gave judgment for plaintiff'for £SO damages. Ho said that he had not the slightest doubt 'that, when the marriage was postponed, defendant had in mind the disposal of the horse, but he was equally satisfied that, plaintiff had not agree to put the wedding off for an indefinite period.
