The proposed new IYA broadcasting studio will be erected ..at the top.of Shortlahd "street, near the junction with.. Emily.,.place. . The New Zealand . Broadcasting Board is • completing the purchase of a property previously owned by Mrs Haines, widow .of Dr . Humphrey names. The price has not been disclosed.
The section is of nearly* half an acre. At present it is thickly wooded and lias a three-storeyed concrete resi* dence, damaged by fire, which has been unoccupied for many years. The broadcasting Beard intends to erect a three-storeyed building to accommodate the studio and the office premises.
