Jack Doyle was disqualified for hitting, the holder, Jack Petersen, low, in the second round of the heavyweight championship. Forty-five thousand were present in the open air at White City and saw a farcical contest lasting 3J minutes, for which each received five thousand pounds. Both were severely cautioned for clinching. Doyle after. shaking Petersen threw all caution to the winds and dealt many foul blows, whereupon the referee who had already showed great leniency disqualified him.
