He approached a mimher of tea room proprietors at Stratford and Taumarumii, representing that lie was arranging Cook’s tours, and seeking suitable tearooms to which to take parties. From one proprietor at Stratford be obtained 37''6, but others refused. He obtained 17/6 from one Taumarumii proprietor. He was sentenced to a month’s imprisonment- on each of several charges, the sentences to be cum-, ulative. He is at present serving a term on similar charges at Palmerston North.
