GOLFER’S DEATH- IN CLUE HOUSE

AUCKLAND, June 29

The 'death occurred with tragic suddenness this afternoon of an Auckland solicitor, Charles John Schnauer, after he had played a round of golf. Schnauer-, who was -president of the Maungakiekie Golf Club, had completed a round on the Club’s links, alid was in the club-house, when he collapsed on a seat and died. CYCLIST FATALLY INJURED AUCKLAND, June, 28. Severe head injuries from which he later died in the hospital, were received this evening by a cyclist, Douglas Charles Baker, aged lb, of Ellerslie, when lie was involved in a- collision with a motor car on the Great South Road. The motor wa s driven by J. G. McDonald, of Greenlane. The boy was thrown from his bicycle on to the footpath. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital, where lie died one hour after admittance. FATAL BURNS CHRISTCHURCH, June 28. Miss Caroline Smith, forty-five years of age, died iri the Christchurch Public Hospital this morning as a result of burns and shock received when she fell into a fire at her home at West Eyreton on Monday last. An inquest was opened this afternoon before Mr E. D. Mosley, Coroner. Miss Smith, who resided with her brother, Mr Robert Smith, is stated to li/ive been subject to epileptic fits. As a result of weakness on Monday hist she fell on to a fire in her home and received severe burns. She was admitted to the Brocldehurst private hospital at Rangiora, but her condition became worse and she was brought in to the Christchurch Hospital last evening. She lost consciousness and died at 4.30 p.m.
