PALMERSTON NORTH, June 29,

Three young -men were surprised when breaking into the- general store*.at Maniakau at two o’clock-, this morning,, and they were held until the arrival of the police. When arrested they were stated to have' -had a Wellington car in their possession. An employee of the store, who sleeps on -the premises, wia® disturbed, and after investigating telephoned .for the owner of the store (Mr Powell), who speedily arrived, and they held up the three men with a shot gun until the arrival of the police. The method of entry to the store was by cutting out a portion ’of the door.
