TRIBUTE PAID TO THE R.A.F

Air experts of many who attendee wie Royal Air Force display at Hendon on Saturday were astonished that a programme which involved much close dying at a tremendous speed had booh carried through without the slightest mishap in pouring rain and with clouds as low as 500 ft. Exceptionally bad visibility added greatly to the risks, but the- great feat without mishap is regarded as an enormous tribute to the organisation and to ability of the aviators. A crowd of 100,000, mostly soaked to the skin were thrilled to the end, notably King Eeisal, of Iraq. Ignoring the rain they watched a rapid .succession of thrilling stunts cairied through faultlessly. One thousand foreign guests were entertained at Hendon by the Society of British Aircraft Constructors -at a display of flying and aircraft engines, components and accessories. Some magnificent exhibitions of flying were given in military aeroplanes, and in mail and passenger-carrying and pleasure aircraft, Machines were thrown open to the inspection of the guests, who woro deeply impressed with the exhibition,

(Received June 28 at 9.10 a.m.) CALCUTTA, June 27. Ulm arrived at 4.20 p.m. and hopes to take off again this evening.

FLIGHT IS WITHOUT EVENT

(Received June 28 at 10.5 a.m.) CALCUTTA. June 27.

Ulm’s flight to Calcutta has been uneventful except for hold-ups at Alorstar, and at Rangoon, the wing and wheels of the plan, 2 being embedded in mud. It took nearly three hours to extricate the aeroplane.

Ulm left at once for Calcutta. Monsoon conditions were bad between Alorstar and Rangoon.
