DEBUTANTES’ BALL
TO-MORROW NlOJirs FUNCTION. The Soldiers’ H.:ll wa s a busy scene liadfc •evening preparatory to the Debutantes’ Ball to-morrow evening. Theire was ,a. busy bee attending to the decorations, and the ball promises to be gay with greenery, and the colours of the Pacing Club, red,—tvhite - and blue. A good deal of interest centred in ’the rehearsal ;fcr debutantes. There r.re now 36 young ladies' to be presented, and nearly all were- present I'ast eveh* ing when. Mrs Staveley ■ gave them' instruction in a uniform procedure'.- The nrjviy of voung ladies wa s an impressive one. and in the special froeking for the of'-asiou should be a- very bright spectacle to-morrow evening.
The 1 dies’ committee is busy to-day preparing 'the supper arrangements. Tim comm'sariat will require to be weh replenished .for the occasion, and gilts of plates or other donations ot comestibles will be very acceptable.. Donation*, may be sent to the half from 2 o’clock onward to-morrow afternoon, or if No. 34 telephone' is rung, will be called for.
The floo-r will be prepared specially For the occasion, and with the njus ! c supplied by the two orchestra- (Black Rand and Happiness Boys) there should he an enjoyable’; evening; l ' Mr H. T. Parry who is the organiser of the function will be the -enr.ottflcer at the
presentation, ettd the broadcasting through : 3ZR Greymoutk by land ' line from 'tlie hall, will be done by Miss B. Evans, The broadcasting plant'will b e installed to-morrow. Mr Wi, A. Jamieson will be the M.C. for the evening and in his capable hands patrons will be well provided for. Immediately following the presentation of. the debutantes, a special d ance for them and their partners ' will take place, tfie floor being reserved. The first sitting at ’ tho supper will be reserved also for the debutantes and their partners. The young' .ladies will therefore make their debut under notable circumstances. Great interest ; is centred in the function. Dancing Commences at 8.50, and the -presentation takes place at 9 o’clock-' followed by" a flash light pbotbgrtghr‘r--'- M . • ;j'"Patron s arriving by ' motor cars' fte requested to leave ;ai sphne in the parking line of at least 20 ifeet, to enable thq-.oa.rs, conveying "the'debutantes ( “to draw into the' kerbside immediately outside the entrance doors.
