LAKE ELLESMERE
PROVIDING DRAINAGE OUTLET. (Per Press Association—Copyright). CHRISTCHURCH, June 24. Despite opposition from a number of sportsmen, a large meeting of Leeston settlers last evening approved of plans for the construction of a mile' to ensure a permanent outlet for the drainage at Lake Ellesmere. The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Air Stewart), and Professor Percival told the meeting that sporting activities on the Lake would not be. interfered with whatever. He said that the Acclimatisation Society was under a misapprehension.
