FINED FOR ASSAULT
STRUCK WOMEN EMPLOYER
TE AWAMUTU, June 19
In the Te Awamutu Police Court today Albert Madden, employed as manager <>f a farm near Te Awimutu, was fined £3 and costs by justices for assaulting his employer, Miss M. munn.
The evidence showed that the empty, co- and accused motored to Hamilton yesterday. When bis employer wanted. Madden to leave for home late in the afternoon and was told he had had too much liquor 110 resented it. in the. (joinoe of an argument ’Miss B;ergemann slapped Ill’s face. Madden retaliated, and then jumped out <>f.the car. With the assistance of two bystanders he -was induced t 0 re-enter,, and was driven back to the farm, but on arrival he jumped out and walked to Te Awamutu.
His employer gave accused a good character, but added that drink was his trouble. He became very insolent. Madden pleaded guilty and said he was goaded into using his hands. He had completely lost his temper. The bench said it was disgraceful conduct and could not be tolerated,
