VISIT TO SAMOA
PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSIONER.

WELLINGTON, June 19.
To make a departmental inspection of the staff of the Public Service in the mandated territory of Western ..Samoa and Niue, the Public Service Commissioner, Mr P. Verschaffelt, and the secretary for External Affairs, Air Bereiidfien, will leave Wellington by the Maui Pomare on AVednesday. They will be absent from the Dominion for about- seven weeks, and are due back on August 8.
During Air Berendsen’s absence, Air A. B. Ross, of the External Affaire Department will act as secretary. for External Affairs. Air A. D. Thomson acts ars Commissioner for Air Verschaffelt. Mr Thomson was assistant Public Service Commissioner from 1913 to 1920, retiring from the Public Service in the latter year. At one time Mr Thomson was a member of the Alagistraey, and was Stipendiary Magistrate at Palmerston North from 1903 to 1912. Previous to hie appointment to the Bench, he was in the Justice Department.
