IN HIGH FLOOD
YANG-T'ZE 39FT. ABOVE LEVEL, FEAR OF IMMINENT DANGER. , United .Press Association— By Electric ■ .-'?*•>; sfhsgraph—Copyrigh e.; ",. V ' SHANGHAI, June 12. Fear is freeiy expressed at Hankow of the possibility of a repetition of the Yangtze floods of 1931. The river reached 39ft. above the usual low water mark on Friday, which is six inches above the 1931 level on the same date. Governor Hupeh, in a telegram to the Nanking authorities, states that the river is within five feet of the top of the Bund, and appeals for assistance in precautionary measures. It is believed that unless the heavy rain ceases, the dykes built for famine relief last year will be subjected to a very considerable test.
