RADIO FIELD DAY
OVERSEAS CONTACT ONE AMATEUR SECURES FORTY. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright; (Received June 13 at 9.35 a.m.) LONDON, June 12. Ilia Radio Society of Great Britain held a national field day when thirtyseven amateurs, scattered throughout the United Kingdom with portable wireless sets, participated in a competition to se who could make the greatest number of contacts with overseas -amateurs, extra points being allotted for Empire contacts, especially Australia and New Zealand. The clay was successful. One amateur portable station made contact with forty overseas stations. Preliminary returns fail to show contacts with Australia, but two Dunedin stations, also another New Zealand station was heard admirably.
