' . - The Hokitika Women’s Institute met last evening when Mrs Mclntyre presided over fifty members. Eight new nfembers wer, e i welcomed. The minutes of the May meeting were read and confirmed and arrangements put in hand for the Cabaret—to be held on jury sth. Mrs Paterson, secretary, was appointed a delegate to attend the annual Dominion Conference to he hold in Christchurch on July 26th. I and 27th. A report on the North Canterbury and West Coast Federation annual meeting held in Christchurch in April, was read by Mrs Warren and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the delegate on her full account of the proceedings. Stool making was again in progress, Mrs Appleton being in charge; while Mrs Collett and Miss N. Thompson instructed in tray making. A dainty supper was 1 served, the hostesses being Mcedames Benjamin, Breeze, Bassett, Bergamini, Coombs, Cooke and Christiansen.
