AIR RACE WINNER

SPEEDWAY RIDER'S SUCCESS. AUSTRALIAN’S FEAT PRAISED. LONDON, May 25. The result of an air race to-day was a splendid iadvertisement for the adaptability of the Australian speedway men at present competing in Great Britain. Vic. Huxley, the Australian dirttrack rider, in spite of only 25 hours’ solo flying experience, won the 80-mile cross-country race of the Herts-Essex Aero Club, with a speed of 80 miles an hour. His victory is acclaimed as a feat of navigation. Competitors among whom were several experienced pilots, were told the course only when they entered the. cockpits. Several lost their way and landed. Huxley needed none of the time allowance allotted for inexperience.

A club official declared that Huxley wus one of their best pupils. He learned to fly solo after six hours of instruction from another speedway rider, Roger Frogley.
