INDIAN STRIKE

Armed Avith brickbats and sticks, and a small police force . armed Avith clubs Avas the first incident of the strike of the Corporation’s carters, avlio are dissatisfied Avith their wages and housing conditions.
Strikers' tried to prevent non-strik-ers from collecting the city’s refuse. The police made a hundred arrests. A number of. strikers and a feAv policemen were- injured. Meanwhile the city’s health is seriously menaced*as long as, the refuse is alloAved to rot on the roadside.
