During the last few days numbers of frost fish have been stranded on the Rabbit Island Beach, writes a Nelson correspondent. A resident of the Appleby district, who has had a halfcentury’s experience of the beach, states that he lias never known the fish to be so plentiful. It is a great table delicacy, but one lias to be about early to find them, as the seagulls give them quick attention.

There was a bumper house at Princess Theatre last night, when a programme of pictures of unusual length was screened. The first half consisted of various “shorts,” all of an interesting character. Sydney bridge was an outstanding picture, and naturally interest in the cricket and golf pictures was considerable. The gazettes of news and novelties with Micky in full play, were very enjoyable. “On Our Selection” Trough t RucJd’s well known characters to the fore in all their quaint ways, and an hour’s picture was full of interest and typical of the wayback settler i'n Australia in- the early days' of pioneering with many comic interludes. Before Mr N. V. Love]], J.P., at the Grevmouth Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon, Charles Thorscn, single, aged 41, an employee of the Greymouth Motors Ltd., was charged that, on May 27th, at Greymouth, he dild unlawfully convert to his own use, but not wi„h the intention of stealing, within the Crimes Act, a motor car, valued at £250, the property of H. E. Melville. Sergeant M. Hodgins, who represented the police, applied for a remand until next Monday. He said that the accused had made application for bail, and he had no objection to it being granted. The damage to the car was estimated to be in the vicinity of £3O. The accused was accordingly remanded to £ ppear at Creymouth on Monday next, bail being allowed in one surety of £SO, and self £SO.
