A coast-to-coast railway excursion, Christchurch to wid be run on June 16th. By a notice appearing in the advertisement columns of this paper the Main Highways Board directs attention to the classification in Class Three of the Waiho-Weheka Section of the Inaugahun Junction-Weheka Main Highway (No. 102), The effect of the classification is to limit the permissable gross loading on the highway to C| tons, in the case of ordinary" foijrwheeled motor vehicle and to 10 ton's in respect of approved multi-axled heavy motqr vehicles. The classification was gazetted on the 18th May.
A slight decline in the price of New Zealand butter from last week is shown by Dalgety and Coy’s latest advice from their London office, which gives the market as slow and the quotations as follows: Danish 86s to 90s; N.Z. finesh 77s to 795; Australian finest unsalted 77s to 795; Australian finest salted 76s to 78s; Australian G.A.Q. 73s to 755. The cheese market is quiet with the- quotations a little lower than last week, viz.: N.Z. white 475; N.Z. coloured 53s to 545; Canadian white 66s to 70s; 'Canadian coloured 66s to 70s.
A two-seater super six Hudson coupe car, owned by Mr IT. Melville/representative for Messrs A. S. Paterson and Co., Wellington, was unlawfully removed from tbe garage of the Greymouth Motors Ltd. 0 n Saturday night, and came to rest on the roadside in High street just before midnight in a ecnciderabiy damaged state. Whealmarks indicate that just before reaching the Technical School the' ear veered off to the left, and after mow■ng down two cabbage trees about a foot in diameter, finished up well off the road.
