FINANCE BILL DISCUSSION.

LONDON, May 18

In the House of Commons, there was a Labour Party motion for the rejection of the Finance Bill on the grounds that it left the heaviest burdens oh those least able to bear them; The motion was defeated.

Mr, N, Chamberlain replied to aoiHe Conservative opposition to the taxu' tion imposed on heavy oils as being a burden to the industry. He said that, if, as suggested, there were a general desire for the substitution of a tax on foreign sugar or tea, he would sympathetically consider it. The Finance Bill was read the second time by 388 to 48.
