Premier’s Visit.—The Rt. Hon. and Lady Wind arc at present occupied with a busy trip to the Coast, visiting all of the centres. They arrived from Greyinouth to-day a.ter visiting Kumara, Stafford, Goldsobrough and Arahura. They /were welcomed by, the Mayor, after which the .foundation stone of tiie new Hokitika public buildings was laid. Several , dpputaticfns were received. Three Mile Ball.—The ball in the Three Mile Hall in aid of the. Arahura Football Club was very enjoyable. Music ovas played by Mrs Mason (piano), Messrs T. West (piccolo), P. | George and F. Turley (violins), and | Miss> Byrne, Stafford (extras). Items I were contributed by Messrs G. Tainui, T. George, and Miss E. Freitas. Okarito.—Writing of Okarito, a correspondent says that, to-day, it contains nine inhabited houses, of which two were hotels. In the seventies, there were no less than thirty hotels, a. Customs House, and many stores, al together it. being a thriving town There was no road from Hokitika, ana all traffic was conducted along the beach. Nearly all the old houses have been removed, and though not meriting even tire name of village, it is still spoken oi' as the town. Harbour Board.—At the meeting of the Harbour Board last evening tin* County Chairman said he would give notice of motion that the Beard endeavour to obtain the services of Mr Ferguson, engineer to the Wellington Harbour Board, to report on the plans submitted for the proposed improvements to tlie harbour. County Council.—At the last meeting of the County Council a ballot fir three members to retire for election resulted as follows:—North Ward, Mr i T. V. Byrne; Middle Ward, Mr T | W.
