At a meeting of the MurchisonCounty mining executive, the local certifying officer reported that a large number of unemployed men recently arrived in the Murchison district under the impression that they could immediately bo placed on mining claims. Since the recent inception of the Unemployment Board’s mining scheme, thirty men have been placed on (special 'areas, and it will be necessary for the executive in future to deal with al! applications strictly in cinder iof date;. Some delay, therefore. must be anticipated before late arrivals can be satisfactorily placed. The executive advises in a general way, that, owing to the probable severity of the winter conditions in the Murchison County this season, it would not be wise lor anyone to take up claims in the district unless fully equipped to endure climatic conditions.
