WHISKY PROFITS IN ENGLAND. TWO THOUSAND PER CENT. LONDON, April 21. From inquiries, it ap-; pears that an illicit distiller can make a pound profit for every shilling expended. Because no specialised skill or groat .outlay of capital are required, the liire of big 'money yielding 200 psi cent, profit is, it is stated, tempting many unemployed men to engage in the illegal business. Enormous fines laid down by law are payable to the Customs and Excise, who in cur Yorkshire case some time ago; claimed £9OO with the alternative of (a long term of imprisonment.
